Ok, Alaska has made their point for hosting a Rockstar Curling Try-out...! We continue to receive more e-mails and inquiries from Alaska everyday. Seattle, San Francisco and the people from across the Lone Star state, especially from Dallas and Houston are all signing up... its great to see that enthusiasm! Keep it coming!!
We need more people signing up from the North East!! There are some great curling communities, and many have started to have people sign up, but man, the western region is killing you!!! Tell everyone in your club, and your non-curling friends alike to sign up and try out!
The tryouts will be a fun day for everyone! Even if you don't get chosen to be on the Rockstar team, the chance to get on TV, and the 'festival' that will surround the tryouts will make it a fun day for everyone. Bring your friends, get them to tryout...!
And to all the people from Florida who have signed up - Great to hear from you!! We are arranging a try-out in Miami - remember, you don't have to be an experienced curler to try out, so you never know!! Tell your friends and keep the applications coming in!
I'm sure we'll see you here in Philly. We just brought home the MACA trophy, so we might as well add on a Rockstar Curling try-out to the mix.

Are you going to pick anyone from the East?

There's availability for 8 sheets (40 rinks?) of curling in Blaine, MN? Really? Sure, there's are ice rink(s), but do you really want to have this kind of an event on arena ice? Most "dedicated" clubs, with real curling ice are 4 - 8 rinks - few are bigger. And curling club locations are typically spread apart in US cities. (in the Twin Cities, it's hard to come up with 20 sheets within two hours of each other). Anybody top that? Only in CAN (where this idea seems to originate) are there rinks on top of each other (like in say, Winnipeg, which has at least 50 sheets in the metro area), where a 1000 or so curlers can "playdown", as in the MCA. How many "contestants" do you expect to allow to enter to get down to a manageable number? What's the thought process here, Rockstar?

Hey - what about Wisconsin? You know our motto about our vegetable industry - "If it's fresh frozen, it's from Wisconsin!" And we're the Glacier State, so we know ice inside and out.
And.....we're home to the United States Curling Association in Steven's Point - we've got scads of curling clubs - more than any other state (27).
And besides - now that we've lost Brett Favre, maybe we can get a lot of cheesehead fans to root us on!!!

Hey, the Chicago Curling Club in home of the United States Curling Museum, so not only can you make history here, you can view the history too! We have 3 curling clubs just 10 miles from each other. And it's Chicago...enough said!

For an event like this, with the turnout it will generate. Yes, we need that many sheets. I doubt there will be actual full matches played anyway.
Either way. As long as the best Curlers come out and represent the USA, that's all that matters. Doesn't matter where they come from in the U.S.
Let's get this thing rolling!!

This is great. I just was told about this yesterday. I hope they have just one tryout in the midwest. Or at least a drivable distance from Chicago.

Wisconsin's the Badger State...
Unofficial ones for Wisconsin include America's Dairyland, America's Bread Basket, and the Cheese State, but no Glacier State.
How did you say that ice was?

I've played at several clubs in Canada that have 10+ sheets, so 8 is not the biggest in North America.
I would think though, that the tryouts would be on arena ice, because in the worlds, etc. they play on arena ice and it plays different than club ice. And hopefully no tryouts outside at Rockefeller center in NYC, or natural ice like you'll find in the boonies... that would be a disaster.

Please have a tryout in Cleveland, Ohio or anywhere within 3 hours (Columbus, Detroit, Buffalo, Pittsburgh).

How can you not come to Wisconsin and especially Madison. It's the home of the Men's and Women's National Champions and also the Girl's Junior National Champions. There must be something in the water. Yeah sure, those teams all have some Minnesotans on them but we all know that everyone from Minnesota wants to be a Cheesehead. Come on Canada junior, what you got?!

For the East coast, the place to have a try out is Scranton, PA!!! We are the only place that is within five hours (or less) of all the clubs on the east coast, with the exception of the Florida and North Carolina folks. They are a slightly longer drive to us. But most clubs are within 2-4 hours from us.
In one facility we have two ice rinks. We could make them into 8-10 sheets for a one stop try out for the GNCC clubs.
If you come here, we'll take your picture in front of the Dunder-Mifflin building!!!

Chicago is a great choice for a mid-western section tryout. Great history and great ice. I personally curl in Detroit, which wouldn't be bad either
